Looking to create a mobile app without using code? Check out Appery and Appy Pie.

No coding experience? No problem.

Per usual, Triumph received no financial compensation from the listed companies for writing this article. Straight from the heart, baby.

Coder? I barely know her

At Triumph we love our computer science friends, and we need them—because that is not our thing. So if you’re like us, and comp-sci is not one of your many strengths, today’s article may be for you.

Similarly to how tech giants Squarespace and Wix allow users to build incredibly powerful websites without knowing code, that same business model also works in the mobile app world. With Appery and Appy Pie, you’ll be able to create the mobile app of your dreams without having to code a single thing.

So, even if your tech skills amount to something similar to this:

You’ll still be able to make that mobile design idea a reality. Amazing, right? We thought so too.

Appery’s design suit is built around a drag-and-drop system. Simply look up the app features you need, arrange them however you see fit, and let Appery do the rest. Their pre-designed blocks already look professional and their powerful back-end cloud infrastructure will make sure that whatever features you choose run smoothly.

Maybe you have slightly more skill than the average bear. That works great, too, as the base-level drag-and-drop system can also be augmented with more advanced design features. If you’re looking to wade further in to the mobile design waters, Appery allows plenty of room for creativity. Unless that kind of creativity scares you, in which case you can opt to stay firmly within the lines.

With Appery, you also won’t have to worry about creating different versions of your app for IOS and Android. As we discussed in our previous app-building article, it’s much harder to get an app on the Apple App Store than on Google Play—but that doesn’t faze Appery. Just build your app once, and they’ll make sure the design gets approved on both platforms.

Already own some type of server or back-end system and are looking to integrate it with an app? Appery is still the place for you. With just a few clicks, their app design templates can connect with common enterprise data systems like Oracle, SQL, MySQL (which is apparently different), SAP, Server, Sharepoint, LDAP, and others.

Oh, and if you’re trying to work on this new app design as part of a team, Appery can help bring you together. Their App building templates can be shared and edited across multiple devices simultaneously, allowing your team to divide and conquer the project.

Appery offers four monthly pricing plans ranging from the simple to the comically complex. For our clients, we usually recommend their $25 per month Beginner Plan. It allows you to create up to two apps with a strong back-end data system. If you think you might need more than two apps, or some especially serious data firepower, you can also check out their Pro and Team Plans, coming in at $70 per month and $135 per month respectively. All plans and pricing are available here, or at www.Appery.io/pricing.

Appy Pie

Besides having one of the greatest names we’ve ever listed in a Triumph article, Appy Pie also offers a powerful no-code app building design library. We love choices, in pies and in platforms.

Similar to Appery, Appy Pie allows for a no-coding-required app building experience through the use of drag-and-drop templates. However, Appy Pie simplifies the process even further by also allowing users to select pre-made templates for specific kinds of applications. If your app design needs are fairly straightforward, these templates can give your project a huge head start. The following templates are available:

-       On demand delivery

-       Basic business

-       Radio

-       Restaurants

-       Dating

-       Taxi Service

-       Retail

-       Church

By starting with a template, you’ll be that much closer to making your app dream a reality.

When it comes time to dig into the nitty gritty of your app design, you’ll still have access to plenty of pre-coded plugins to handle most of the heavy lifting. Like Appery, Appy Pie also takes care of the backend data services—a huge boon for any adventurous app designer.

The price is right

The pricing plans make clear that Appy Pie tailored for Android App development, though the company can get your app on both platforms—for a price.

Appy Pie offers Basic, Gold, and Platinum plans (minus three points for lack of creativity), coming in at $16, $36, and $60 per month respectively. However, only Platinum Plan users can list their app on the Apple App Store—the lower two tiers only support Google Play. This is a pretty significant difference between Appy Pie and Appery, and one that we think every adventurer should ponder before locking into a deal.

However, speaking of commitment, Appy Pie does allow an extensive free trial, so feel free to test run their service before purchasing. They’ve also been known to hand out the occasional discount if you ask, so consider having a nice haggle with one of their sales reps—if you’re so inclined.

Eating pie and making bank

Don’t let a lack of coding expertise hold you back from making your brilliant app idea a reality. With services like Appery and Appy Pie, the sky is the limit. So, roll up your sleeves, and start getting creative. Maybe now is the time to design that amazing organic cat dating app that you dreamed up. We just might download it. Actually, we probably wouldn’t download that one. But maybe.
